Lichtzoekers

Street art sculptures escaping the dark

by Senne Dehandschutter

Rage, rage

Difficult poses, precarious positions, and the fear of falling. Yet they seem to climb, searching for light and a view. Dreaming of what lies beyond the blind wall or high rooftop. Longing for an elusive horizon.

A rebellion too, against the dark shadow of our time. To put it in the words of the poet Dylan Thomas: "Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Lichtzoekers are a silent spectacle woven through the city. Initially set against the backdrop of sometimes grey Brussels. Soon to appear in other cities as well. We are grateful to the museums and other institutions that believe in us and support the project.

A Lichtzoeker on your facade?

Lichtzoeker sculptures are now also available for purchase. It is nice to be inspired by your story and create a custom-made piece. If desired, it can be based on you or someone dear to you. We work with private clients and organizations, both in Belgium and abroad.

Senne Dehandschutter

If you think five thoughts at once, reality cracks open and something magical appears. As a child, I made myself believe it. I never made it to five, so I keep searching for the cracks.

Working as a director and visual artist, I am proud to say my work has won several international awards and has been selected for a number of prestigious festivals. Rose d'Or, IDFA, Montréal World Film Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, LA Shorts International Film Festival, Ensors and Kastaars are among those I like bragging about the most.

Follow our journey

I hesitated. No Lichtzoekers on social media. Only to be seen in real life. Eyes looking upward, away from the little screen. But the likes are too tempting.
